A two-capability agent interface, shipped in enterprise software
Aidni's founder designed the agent interface for MuleSoft's MCP Server around two capabilities, view and create, instead of the eight operations originally proposed. It shipped and is supported today.
| Proposed surface | 8 operations |
|---|---|
| Shipped surface | 2 capabilities |
| Status | Generally available |
The reasoning: with the ability to view what exists and the ability to create, an agent can compose every other behavior it needs. The other six operations added surface area, not capability.
The design prevailed over a proposal for completeness, shipped commercially, and its documentation and demonstrations were used directly in customer engagements.
Minimal agent surfaces are not a compromise; they ship, they are easier to secure and audit, and agents remain fully capable. Conduit's Observe and Propose apply the same design to physical infrastructure, where the case for a small surface is even stronger.
